Counselling & Psychotherapy
I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and supervisor and have worked in the field of psychotherapy for over 30 years. In essence I feel certain that therapy at its most effective can help us to transform our lives and I enjoy the rich mixture of experience and opportunity for personal growth that this work provides.
I am deeply indebted to all the individuals who have sought my help over the years. Their courage to engage with their presenting problems in a spirit of curiosity and honesty, and allowing me to accompany them in their search for new understanding and meaning, has been humbling and deeply moving.
Generally I work with a wide range of problems including life crisis, anxiety, relationship issues, depression, a lack of motivation or meaning as well as stress related, psychosomatic and complex trauma issues. I am committed to an ongoing integration of the latest research and insights within my practice.
Another aspect of my work is in the integration of mindfulness and contemplative approaches. My personal longstanding meditation practice supports and underpins my work and highlights the support and wisdom these traditions provide. I hold a Master’s degree in mindfulness and have taught on the ‘mindfulness in individual psychotherapy’ module at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University.
If you would like to consider counselling, psychotherapy or therapeutic mindfulness then I suggest the first step is for you to contact me to arrange an initial consultation. In this first meeting we will explore your issues and how we might work together. I offer both short-term (6-12 sessions) or long-term therapy and I also offer therapeutic mindfulness. Each session lasts 50 minutes and my fee is £70.
